My girls u-12team just recently lost a championship series due to a player arriving in the 6th inning after almost 3 hours of play. Just looking for clarification on this rule. Saposidly my town plays by ASA rules but never ran into this problem before. Any information would be helpful.

Im assuming you are complaining because a player showed up late for the other team and was allowed to play? No offense, but a player showing up late in a game did not cause you to lose the game. And for that matter, players can be added to the lineup card at any time as long as they are rostered players for the team. Now, if the coach had been smart and knew the player may be showing up late he should have just gone ahead and put her on the lineup card to start with. But, nothing prevents a player from being added after the game has started.

We were that kid once. We were picking up, and had been playing with our own team in the morning. Then raced over to finish playing with the team we were picking up with for the remainder of their games. I wish I could remember which organization that tournament was through. Someone actually challenged it with the tournament director but did not win. We were on the roster, and they said nope, we could play, sorry. I agree with Comp though, there's no way one player wins or loses games for a team. Maybe a real super-stud of a pitcher. But I would think most of the time, no.

Three hours and you were only in the sixth inning?

Your team did not lose because of this. You don't mention why a player showing up late had such an effect on the game or the situation upon which she entered the game, Sub for another player, a player to fill an empty spot under the shorthanded rule, etc.

You played a softball game that was in the 6th inning after almost 3 hours?
