I've had a few parents ask me about live streaming with Gamechanger (the score keeping software we are using now). Does anyone do this? Will I have to upgrade my data plan (right now I just have 200mb/month)? Is it possible to use my phone or is the small screen a problem (as opposed to an iPad- my iPad is wifi only)

Thanks for any tips! I'm definitely being dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming.

Not sure if you are a coach or not or how you are planning on using the electronic equipment, but be aware that electronic equipment is not allowed on the field or in the dugouts. The only electronic item allowed is a scorekeeping device.

I pay $39 a year and get access to any game on gamechanger as long as the admin grants you access. Followers can watch the game in real time using the pitch by pitch or play by play function. You can watch the game on a computer, iPad, iPhone or other smart phone device. WiFi should be fine for you. Hope that answers your question?

We have used Game Changer for a couple of years. The data usage on your mobile plan is not excessive. The data transmitted is more like a text message than a video feed. In the past we have paid the team fee of @ $120 so everyone could access the games online. It was a lot cheaper than parents paying @ $40 for individual memberships. This year Game Changer upped the team fee to $250, so we are looking into iScore to see how their pricing plan compares.

I have been using game changer for over two years, parents and fans love the game streaming. (I have forgotten to to turn on the Cellular Data before. . .and boy do I get a lot of text to remind me to turn it on!!!)

I have used it on my iphone before not a big deal, it is a little easier with the ipad for DH. We use an AT&T data plan for the ipad on a month to month basis. Some complexes do have wifi or you might be able to use the phone as a hotspot for the ipad.

Understood, however if you are using your cell phone to run it, cell phones are not allowed on the field of play or in the dugouts.

Thanks guys - sorry I was about as clear as mud with my inquiry. Yes, I am the scorekeeper. Until now, I have always kept score by hand and then entered the games into Game Changer later that evening. I like keeping a written book because it is easier to make changes quickly. It's also easy to compare my book the other team's book if there is a scoring descrepancy. I'm now looking into keeping score directly into Game Changer, specifically so that we can live stream the games. Interesting about the financial aspect; our team treasurer budgeted $150, based on fees for the team he ran last year - I'll have to let him know that the fee went up and see what he'd like to do.

I sit outside the field of play - up by the fence about 10- 20 or so feet from home base, depending on the complex. Comp - would this be OK for electronic devices?

This has nothing to do w/ the topic at hand, but in Georgia, and maybe nationally, high school football rules now allow electronic devices on the sideline. So you can film a play on your cell phone and use it to coach players during the game.
