Is this girl 14?
Curveball .....
Looks to really break ......
.... or does it?

FFS...I saw the same thing. It doesn't look like much of a curve, if it breaks at all.

Now that you point that out, the palm should be facing up. To the original poster: what is the form on this curve? Palm down is not good for the elbow. If palm is down needs to be more of a drop curve to protect the elbow.

Screwby is correct...this is not a curveball, just another outside fastball.

That's why I mentioned the front side resistance. The front hip has to cross the power line more and force the forearm to spin the ball around it.
Palm up is important too. I thought the palm was down just in the follow through but looking again it could definitely be up longer through the release.
Same can be said for every "Screwball" that I have seen. I would like to see a video broken down the same way of any female pitchers "curve ball" breaking. Most I have seen look just like this one (a pretty nice pitch). 43' is a pretty short distance throwing between 58 - 65 to make it "curve" much. Anyone have video of it curving.Screwby is correct...this is not a curveball, just another outside fastball.
This pitcher for a 2015 grad looks excellent. Congratulations. How hard is she throwing because she looks very strong. Nice change too.
Anyone that has watched Ernie Parkers videos knows this is how he teaches his curve (step across the power line and throw back across to the other side). It is more of an angle than actual break. I agree with lhowser all these movment pitches arent really moving. If you look at any of Cats videos with this same view and trace the ball you are not going to find much, if any sideways break and she is one the best curve ball picthers. The only movement pitch that moves IMO is the drop and that has more to due with gravity than any thing. Thats why a roll over drops more than a peel (speed affects gravity). And even at that the people that claim there is this late break in the last 4-5 feet, I would love to see video of that to because if you have the software to track the ball it is not happening.
Thanks for all the feedback. This probably wasn't her best curve. I can see now that she was open a little to early and landed to her left of the power line. As the dad who catchers her, I can tell you that she can spin the ball and make it move. I think if you asked the batter, as well, they'd say the ball wasn't where they expected it.Can she throw better? With work, of course... She is a freshman in high school and she is an october 96 birthday. She "cruises" 60-62 with her fastball in games (jugs gun)...change is between 48-50 typically. I've posted video of her over the years so she might look familiar to you. She's 5'11" and still growing slowly. She's hoping to hit 6'. She's strong but needs to add some bulk which I expect will be coming in the next couple years.
I appreciate all the feedback. When I get some time, I'll do some in the gym footage as well with the camera straight behind the plate. I think it's a better perspective. In games, usually the fat umpire is blocking everything so I offset it a bit.
Here she is back in January pitching against the SoCal Wicked down in Arizona: MaddieRogers-Jan2012.mov - YouTube
and for the nostalgic, here she is at 10U, lol: http://federalwayslam.com/videos/08fp-invite-g5.wmv back in the day when we wore pink and black uniforms and played in shorts!
I love this game...it's high school playoff time up here!
She never gets fully open. She is landing on her left heel with her toe pointed towards the catcher instead of on a 45 degree angle. She is slamming the door with her right hip.
