My DD at 8-9 years old was throwing an almost side arm pitch. This excellertor has been the best thing to help her get the full arm circle motion coming straight up and follow at the waist. Also it helps for a quick warm up of the arm before pitching. If you knew how its made its definately an easy one to copy.

my duaghter uses one regularly and she doesn't lock out her elbow...

How is her internal rotation at release?

I have a young student who cuts her circle too small way out beside her, I would like to try this on her, but she is also very bad about pushing the ball up at release, so I don't know if this hurt her efforts at IR.

Yeah my dd circle was small to the side and releasing from border line above waist to being illegal pitch. Muscling the ball i was told. I'd try this device and fix this problem first then hit worry about pushing the ball at release later. It really helped my headache of correcting her without it.

Too bad someone near by couldn't let you borrow one or if you can try to make one. I just siliconed mine together the bottom plastic cap falls off time to time or i'd take a pitcher of how it was made.

How is this thing different than putting 1 or 2 balls in one of dads old tube socks like my dd was shown several years ago ?

This is what I was going to try. Try and fix one problem then work on the other.
I think I'm just going to try the wiffle ball in a plastic bag.

I can't answer that question about her IR but she is effective with location, moving ball up and down in strike zone with effective change of speeds. We play alot of 12u B teams and several A teams in our area and she does pretty good. Rarely ever hits batters and velocity is right about same as others in age group.

I just tied a whiffle ball to a plastic container that Clorox wipes came in. It is tube shaped. I poked a hole in the bottom of it and attached about 6 inches of nylon rope, tied that off and tied it to the whiffle.

I used it at a 9 YOs very first lesson and she quickly understood the arm circle.

I am thinking that I could also use it in my non dominant hand to exercise the left arm. The container might need a little weight in it.

The difference between this and the ball in a sock or plastic bag drill, is that in that drill, you hold onto the tail of the plastic bag and throw it, during the arm circle.
