Many of us coaches were at a clinic that Hillhouse and Paetkau put on in Ohio about 5 years ago. This argument was put to rest with Video that clearly shows the riseball just doesn't fall as much as a fastball. I will try to find the physics post that you would have to throw a ball over 80 MPH and have a spin of over 36. We all know that doesnt happen. Bill Hillhouse has the best riseball I have seen and I have seen some of the best females pitcher. None come close. What you call a high school rise ball , we call a slant rise. Released low so you are throwing it upwards, without much spin. Bill has a very good DVD on the riseball.

We still have many high school coaches in this area that feel the rise ball rises and then move up all the batters to the top of the box to catch it before it goes up. . I love it, my pitcher got 14 K's in a game against one of these coaches. Look at the video's above and why would anyone want to move up.

Carty .... I downloaded the video and reviewed it on a frame-by-frame basis. The ball does not jump in that video.

I went to the model pitchers thread and looked for the Tincher rise but did not see it. Are you going to post it soon?

Decide for yourself.

Hal ... the ball in this video does not jump northward. If you take a side view of this pitch it will be more clear to you.

Hal … you critize Dallas’ riseball saying that it is a “high school rise ball” and that “it is not a real riseball”. Those were you your words. And here you present a bent fingered riseball as a real riseball????? Quite frankly, I like Dallas’ riseball better … and IMO it is a “real riseball”.
