Here is one to demonstrate that she says she doesn't like the "show it" part at 12:00.

The more I watch pitchers, the more leeway I want to give my daughters with their mechanics. And only work on things that I can concretely tie to an actual issue. I watched a girl with great mechanics/posture/glove position/foot position etc just die on Sunday and throw all over the place. The girl was textbook, but just could not pitch. My DD beat her team with a mechanics set that was far inferior if you watched everything except what the ball did.

Watched UCLA v Arizona and it was a series of unorthodox body positions on the UCLA side but they did great. This picture of Tincher is just another example of a great pitcher getting it done her way. Abbott does a gymstep, Ueno closes too early....on and on.

You can see from the attached screen shot that she isn't "pulling the arm". It is clear that the ball is trailing the elbow around the circle.

Each pitcher does vary from the ideal. "Swimming" is a perfect example...there are lots of good pitchers who do this.

But, overall there really are some basics that are similar from pitcher to pitcher.

My DD beat her team with a mechanics set that was far inferior if you watched everything except what the ball did.

The other pitcher hasn't done the work.

A pitcher is made in the backyard by the DD with a parent putting in the time working on pitching. PCs, DVDs and books don't do it...it is really the kid who makes herself a pitcher. (Obviously, good books, PCs and DVDs help.)

well I don't have one from 3rd base side like I thought, but have a rearview and 1st base side.

I'm amazed by this pitch. She gets fully extended and heel down by about 11 oclock! Then the firm front side and a whip that seems to come from 10 feet behind her. I guess this is what they mean by whip from the back hip, wow!

My daughter has been seeing Denny since nov. and WOW can he flat teach it. He has never taught her to push it. There are many things taught there that are totally different than anything I have heard any where else. Hard to get everything in a clinic or an hour, but he is great he will do video analysis for free if you see him. He gives enough to work on in a hour and a half, and doesnt want to see you back until it is fixed... By the way he has some freshman in d1 this year that are making a serious impact.

As far as mechanics, they mean nothing if the kid doesnt have it between the ears. Pithing is far more mental than people think. And Denny also helps that part.
