The bat drill is helpful my dd hates it though. Another drill my dd does is she takes her arm back to 9 and whips a sand toy. It looks like a scooper with a handle. She likes to hear the plastic make a swoosh sound. She tries to whip harder to make the noise louder.

Hows that going... don't tell me you got a pitcher that's never thrown a ball too... LOL

LOL! No, not quite that bad, but I did have 3 or 4 high school girls approach me and say they were interested in learning how to pitch, and I'm not going to tell them they can't give it a shot!

The good news is that there are lots of easy to teach basic pitching drills on DFP. Boardmember's one sticky thread has been invaluable.

Don't over think the tee ball drill... just keep a slight bend in the arm, focus on brush, allow IR to happen....the rest will take care of its self.

Should the pitcher be actively rotating the arm at brush? Or is the rotation and whip just a product of the brush? I guess what I'm getting at, is can you get more whip by pulling into and around the brush?

I prefer that kids learning to whip allow it to happen rather than make it happen. Feel the ball explode from whip vs trying to muscle/force it.

I agree, and what I've tried to teach my dd. Just making sure I wasn't missing something. Just something I've often wondered about. Thanks Ken
