Happy Monday everyone,

I stumbled across this video publicly posted on youtube and thought I would share since I haven't seen it posted on DFP before. Always a lot of discussion on is she or is she not legal and I thought this video might help folks see the difference although not the highest quality.

The sad part is that almost no umpires call pitchers for crow hopping until they reach the WCWS...then suddenly everyone wants to enforce the rule. Most of these pitchers, their parents and their pitching coaches, know they are illegal, but there is no incentive to correct it because they are NEVER called on it...

Both very legal pitchers in Australia and at International level (ISF rules)

TigerForty, thanks for reading my post and sharing your response. Yes, you are correct, and very LEGAL in your part of the world. However, not so legal in the US but it rarely gets called here until it matters most.

Question for you, does the illegal pitcher in this video describe the pitching you see in Australia more than the pitching from the legal pitcher? I would be curious to how our pitchers are trained in your part of the world.

Thanks again,

S3

I'm very happy that our PC has taught my DD how to pitch legally. At our age level we see illegal pitches *all the time*. They never call them though, in A or B tournaments. Even when coaches complain.

I had an up tell me the other week when I asked about a pitchers legality. Umpire me she's illegal but she's not mowing your team down so i'm not going to call it. I just had to laugh to myself.

The umps here will usually say, "she cannot drag with that big hole in front of the plate."

There is a big difference between dragging a toe and replanting. A hole in front of the pitching plate could give the appearance of leaping, since the toe would loose contact with the ground, but if a pitcher has her toe pointed down and does not replant, no advantage is gained.
