Last night at practice my dd's coach told her that at last weekend's exposure scrimmage the umpire told him that my dd was illegal pitching. The illegal pitch was that my dd needed to pause for a few seconds after bringing the glove and ball together before going to her pitching motion. That is how she explained it to me. She has never been called for that before. I will admit I don't know much about what makes a pitch illegal. Any thoughts?

I think that is true in ISF and international play but not in most rules used here. There is no requirement for a pause once you bring you hands together.

ISF is the only rule set I am aware of that requires the hands to remain still for 2 seconds after coming together. Every other rule set I know of has no such requirement and the hands may be in motion when they come together.

No requirement in USSSA.

USSSA Rule 6. Section 1. D. After completing “C” above ("C" is taking a simulated sign from the catcher), the pitcher shall bring the hands together in front of the body for not more than 10 seconds before releasing the ball. The hands may be motionless or moving. Note: Before the pitch starts, the pitcher may remove them self from the pitching position by stepping back from the pitcher’s plate with both feet (either foot may be removed first) or by requesting time.
