This made me laugh because it is so true! She wears a wristband to keep up with the pitches.

A pitcher with 15 strikeouts and loses 1-0 is going to get more attention than the girl who throw 80% drop balls, had 2 strikeouts and won the game 1-0. It's a sad reality that in a lot of cases what really sells for the college coach to scout can be easily overlooked.

Bill, you have described my DD perfectly here. That is what she does...not a ton of strike outs against good competition. Nothing real fancy, but she can be very effective. If the defense behind her is having a solid day she can frustrate the best teams out there with just keeping the ball low and changing speeds. In her last tournament she gave up three solid hits over about 8 innings. One was a hard grounder off of a drop, and the other 2 were homers off of curves....that is what prompted my post!

Thank you all for the great advice as always!

Rubber, speaking only about GOOD slap hitters, a screwball is exactly what they want. A good slapper runs at the pitcher, not pulling off to first base too early.

Bill

I haven't seen a slapper pull off in a long while. Looking forward to seeing these disciplined slappers in the SEC. (or maybe not looking forward to it,... in actuality :) )

The one place I really like a curveball pitcher is against slappers. We have had a lot of success doing this.
