If you are on my Newsletter mailing list you may have noticed I put out an offer this month to sell all 5 of my videos for $105 ($100 +5 for shipping) and dropping the price of videos down to $25. What I did NOT put in that offer is the reason for the sale... no it's not a going out of business sale but it's something I hope the DFP'ers will get behind.

A long time student of mine, who's family goes week to week anyway, had their house broken into, robbed, and vandalized this week. They told me of this when they didn't come for lessons. Included in the stolen items was all her softball gear... all of it. I am donating 100% of my sales from that offer to this girl so she can go back to playing ball. I can wheel and deal on the videos but not so much on the other things in my ''store" so that's why I limited my offer to videos only... and the ones that are NOT downloadable. Those are a split share with my business partner where as the physical DVD's are something I can sell.

Then I got it in my head that maybe if DFP'ers knew of this, several of you may want to chip in for her. I think coming from someone who has never posted on here before this may sound like a scam, but anyone who knows me knows nothing could be further from the truth. Instead I would try to scam you all with having the rich uncle in Nigeria who needs help smuggling millions out of his country. ;) The family is busy paying for busted windows, lamps: replacing TV's etc. and softball items are not on their list as I'm sure you can imagine. I am told they are insured for most of the stuff stolen and much of the damage but that leaves them in the lurch NOW.. during her fall season. Needless to say I'm giving her lessons gratis until they can get on their feet and I put my offer out there to everyone on the videos (through the newsletter) to go buy and replace her gear.

I brainstormed the idea that some of us here who are in a better position may want to contribute to this girl who's heart is broken. My idea is to get the money, purchase items and tell her it was a donation. I am not wanting or trying to accept credit. I don't want the family to feel beholden to me for trying to right a wrong.

Anyone wishing to contribute can do so through my Paypal account which is, <<<<<<house of pitching>>>>> at the Yahoo address (there should be no spaces in the address name which is also my business name. please send the money as a "Friend" not for goods/services as this will avoid paying the Paypal fee. Those that throw in an offer of $50 or more will get a free video analysis from me. I know this family is not on this message board so, I'm sure this will come as a complete shock to them if I'm able to purchase her bats, glove, helmet, facemask, etc. I'm estimating $500 (however I have no idea what bats cost) but ANYTHING that is sent will go to this family which is near and dear to my heart. If you can spare $50 or just $20 all will be collected for this young lady. If you have the means please be generous. I'm doing all I can and while nobody reading this owes this person or me anything, it is for a good cause.

Thanks to a few of you who have made quick donations. Every dollar counts and I really truly appreciate it. I also want to thank those who offered equipment. Sadly, I dont know sizes of shoes, helmets, etc. I plan on getting all that info from her older sister who is also a former student when I get my final tally of $$$ to work with.

So far, within an hour there's been 2 donations of money which is so very much appreciated. Obviously lots more is needed but it's amazing how much the softball community rallies around their own.

I'll donate the total of a week's worth of lessons and challenge other PC's to do the same.

PC's: Let your kids/families know they're helping out another pitcher. Friend or foe, pitchers are family.

Ken, I emptied my messages. WOW, a week's worth? Thank you. So far the response has been good but I'm hoping it can be even better. With luck I'll have a lot more donations by tomorrow when I can go do some shopping. Once Sunday hits, I have a full slate of things to do until Tuesday when I'd see this girl.

A weeks worth...? Not saying much as I don't ask for much and I'm only seeing half of my kids this time of year (mostly because soccer is my priority right now...) I've put the word out to my families and I hope they will be generous to a family member...

I've reached out to softball families and PC's in my area to help this softball family out. Please do the same in your communities. Find the local SB message boards and post Bill's fundraiser info. If you are a PC, hitting coach or other coach who get's gets paid for your services, consider donating a portion of your income to this cause.

Thanks
Ken

Ken, Thanks... just when I was going to "bump" this up to the top. The response has been good, not GREAT. Although I realize not everyone is in a position to give.

Thanks to everyone who has and everyone who will.. on behalf of the family.
