Guys, this is just for giggles so if you are busy, don't waste your time on this thread.

Here I am pitching at 26 years old. Videoed about a month ago. I am just curious what type of expert feedback you guys would have for me. Once again, this is just for fun. This is what I see:

Adduction of glove arm needs to be improved. Needs to pitch more between two walls to keep shoulders in line with target.
Possible posture correction at the beginning of the pitch.
Hop at the end should have been fixed.
Needs noodle arm for more elbow snap action.

It really is sad to think of how I never reached my full potential. I had a good pitching coach but ironically, I was taught HE. As you can see here, I pitch naturally using IR! I used to get in trouble for not "following through" so as you can see, I whip my arm back into place to satisfy HE. I maxed out at 66...in practice of course and not consistently. But who knows where I could have gone if I had known about discussfastpitch.com lol IR truly is the best and most natural way to throw.

If you took the time to humor me, thank you!! Ha!

I see only a few issues I'd work on if you were my student.
1. Body is opening up a little early. Stay closed until 3:00 and drive both shoulders straight towards the catcher.
2. Drive looks good, however the timing of toe touch/ heel plant is a little late in regards to the arm circle. This doesn't give the body enough time to complete the kinetic chain.
3. There is a bit of a replant in the pivot foot. Again causing a disruption in the kinetic chain as well as taking away from some front side resistance.
4. Your butt stays out of the way in an attempt to avoid any brush contact. Without brush, you're guessing somewhat in regards to release area in terms of accuracy. Not to mention brush will assist in getting more whip out of the lower half of the arm...more speed
My 2 cent....

Thank you for the detailed feedback. I agree with all of these! Can you explain a little more on issue number two? Please.

In relation to legs, when should the arm be at release point?
There is a basic guideline that I like to follow in this regard. I want the stride foot toe to be landing as the ball is at 12:00 and the ball will be approx. 10:00 at heel plant. This is significant because it gives the body enough time to fully transfer the energy up the legs and into the core. That energy flowing up throughout your body has to then STOP on a dime as you're reaching release. If your coach had focused more on those little details, I have no doubt you'd have reached 70.

Sorry for another post but can only put so many pics in one post.

Arm bend looks OK. If you are going to teach or demo for young pitchers I would fix the replant first, don't want anyone to learn off a bad habit they see from you.

for me the other big thing is posture at finish look like a little lean forward more pics below. But hey overall not bad at all.

I see, I see. All of this makes perfect sense. I am very very passionate about pitching and would love to help little ones. I want to have all my ducks in a row before I start. I want to HELP not be a detriment to a LO. Teach properly. Thanks for the breakdown!!

Welcome to DFP!

I can't begin to express how awesome it is to see your willingness to learn! Your students will benefit greatly from your study. Speaking of study, check out javasource's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfxecAGYoi5Hav_GIfV47yA?app=desktop

Take note of his teaching on posture in the Tips and IR videos, and videos teaching the 2 step. Learn to whip playing underhand catch using his key points. Meanwhile, I think learning the 2 step sequence will do a ton to correct many of the issues noted.

You might also search "paulygirl1" and "Rich Balswick Videos." Add everything you can glean from BoardMember's IR threads and you will have a far better pitching education than 97% of instructors out there!
