I know Boardmember likes to think that anyone who says complimentary things about Bill is "on his payroll" but, in spite of that, I thought it was pretty cool on ESPN today that Amanda Scarboro mentioned Bill on the broadcast. A pitcher entered the game in relief where Amanda mentioned that she had some "fantastic instruction" by Hugh Hillhouse (bill's brother) and Bill Hillhouse who does lessons and clinics across the country. (So I guess Amanda is on the payroll too). Anyone else hear it?

The funny part was Amanda completely botching the name of another pitcher who helped this young lady, calling him Juan Folkard. Obviously confusing Juan Potoliccio of Argentina and Adam Folkard of Australia, both of whom lived with Bill for summers and would sometimes go to Bill's local lessons and his niece's team practices. Juan and Adam are considered by EVERYONE to be in the game's top 4 pitchers worldwide. Personally I'd like to believe she simply misspoke instead of having no clue who the top male pitchers are. I am fortunate that I got to take my daughter to games where Bill pitched against both guys who pitched in the small mens league in Erie PA.

funny story for those who know him and know Bill's humor: during a game vs. Folkard (who is the undisputed fastest pitcher in the world with amazing, AMAZING movement and has won the World championship the last 4-5 years consecutively) Bill was hitting and Folkard was throwing bullets. after a few pitches in the count, Bill smashed a ball through the hole between 3rd and short. As he ran down to first, he said (loud enough for Adam to hear but not at the top of his lungs) "#1 in the world my a$$!!!!!" Adam covered his mouth to hide the laughter as did the people who heard it, knowing it was humor as Adam lived with him. The next at bat, Folkard turned it up...I never knew a ball could be thrown so hard. While he fouled a few straight back, Bill eventually K'd looking at a drop that seemed to just disappear. Folkard put his glove over his mouth and said something that had both teams laughing hysterically. Maybe it was a "you had to be there moment" but I'm glad I was. The Youtube videos of Folkard do not do him justice. Speed, movement, intimidation is amazing.

This is pretty cool.

I have seen Folkhard throw many times. He is just phenomenal and about the nicest guy off the field. Never faced him though. I did face Juan and am happy to say i had 2 hits off him. It was more the pitcher hitting my bat than me squaring him up.

I wish more people would get to see the high level men's game. those guys are really good

Great, now espn has joined the conspiracy of stroking Bill's ego!:D

not sure if this was said with tongue in cheek or not but, if you know Bill, you know he is the most self deprecating, funny guy you'd ever meet. It can be easy to confuse the 2 but, it's unfair to compare someone who's been there, done that and teaches from that experience to someone with an with an ego. I'm biased, I am a big follower and believer in what Bill teaches (I think it's hard for anyone who's never done it themselves to tell someone who's been on Team USA that they're wrong!) but, I can honestly say Bill has no ego. If you think so, then I don't think you've met or really know him and his humor. And Boardmember saying someone has an ego is hysterical!!

It's been said before that a lot of people feel a compliment of one PC is a put down of others. And that's when things turn ugly and it becomes unfortunate. JMHO.
