Back on the dirt...
Watching the NPF rebellion pitcher warm up and she has a forced HE finish.

I know it's said the best of the best don't pitch HE but here is a top level pitcher using HE to warm up.

Video isn't very clear but it's not the first I've seen doing this. Just wanted to get the forums opinion.

Yup, a lot have that finish. What the finish looks like has nothing to do with either IR or HE.

A pitcher can push the ball down the backside of the circle, do some sort of wrist flip thing to release the ball, then after release pronate the forearm to finish in a typical palm down IR finish. That doesn't mean any true or full IR has taken place.

On the other side of the coin, a pitcher can pull the ball down the backside of the circle and release with a nice, loose wrist whip, then after release pull their palm to their shoulder and point their elbow to the catcher in a classic HE finish. This doesn't mean any type of HE mechanics were used in the throw.

You see this because many pitching coaches think the HE finish is important and have no clue what is going on upstream in the throwing motion. I promise, HE fake finish or not, if the pitcher is at a high level they are throwing with pull mechanics.

Nailed it. My DD does the same thing, but unquestionably throws with I/R. The smoke and mirrors high finish keeps everything consistent with her rise.
