How about a little help for DD - early I/R convert

So DD is a 12U pitcher who has been seeing a coach for about 3 years. He originally taught her HE but like some girls I think she's morphed into what naturally works for her which seems to be some aspects of I/R. Anyway, I have been leery of messing with her mid-season but our TB season is over tomorrow and I want to start ASAP with leaving all the HE stuff behind - wrist flips, etc., and get moving in the right direction.

She does not use BI at all yet and she definitely tends to lean the shoulders forward some. Anything else?

Note: Feel free to admire my newly built pitching lane (who knew that a 4'x8' lane took so much clay!), but disregard wife on the Cub Cadet...

Lots of good here...I wouldn't over complicate things off the bat.

Play underhand catch with her (not a pitching motion) and tell her to feel like her pitching shoulder is moving "back and under" INSTEAD of it moving "forward and down."
NOTE: this is a "feel" cue I use with my students to get them into better front side resistance, better throwing posture and it gets them to throw across their body (whip).

The forward lean needs to go first before you worry about BI...it kills her whip...

Once the forward lean is gone you can talk to her about bringing her elbow to her hip to start to promote BI. Get the posture right first IMO...CP
