Mental note - remember to exchange thong for manly undergarments before visiting DFP to avoid being butt hurt by the truth

Mental Note - Greenmonsters has a unhealthy fascination for large men in thongs. I think we all suspected this and should not be surprised by it.

@ Cannonball Please don't misunderstand me. I harbor no hate for Bill or what he teaches. Anyone who contributes to the betterment of softball is OK with me. Like I said before I am not a pitching expert. I merely made a recommendation based on what I saw and my experiences and it obviously offended those that are on Bills payroll. I know several other pitching coaches in the area but unfortunately none of them have the initials B.H. so I dare not mention them here for fear of offending the masses.

I thought your original statement was totally appropriate given someone asked for suggestions on Texas PC's. I don't see anything in your post that would suggest that Dr. Sherry is the be-all end-all of PC's. Had you said that then I think you SHOULD be chastised. But that's not what you said at all, and in fact, you conceded that BH would be a good option.

I am not a pitching coach nor do I have a daughter who pitches but my daughter does catch for several girls who go to Sherry. In all my time there I have never heard her mention "Hello Elbow" or witness her teach that. I do know that she is in very high demand and travels all over the place to give lessons. She also has several girls who pitch at a high level and come to her quite often. One of the biggest complaints I hear from parents who use her as their daughters pitching coach is that she can be hard to schedule time with. If Hillhouse comes to Texas once a month and you are OK with 1 lesson a month I would say go for it.

I actually think you're a "shill" just here to get people to talk about Bill Hillhouse.......

How does one define unhealthy?

I asked for a PC in the area a year or so ago. I got two names. Sherry and Bill. Sherry doesn't teach what I would like my DD to know, so I picked Bill, and have been very happy with it.

No, pitching lessons once a month is not the best, but it's the best I have. We work at home and I have done my best to learn what is expressed here on DFP. I believe it is the correct way due to video evidence that IR mechanics is what the best pitchers do.

I don't think anyone was "offended". They were just trying to give their opinion, even though they might be very strong of the opinion :)

Thank you for all of the help and for the private messages. Just a quick update. Bill responded to me and told me he would contact me when he sets up his DFW visit. In the meantime, I decided since my daughter is "on a break", I would start running through the stickied I/R drills. About 24 hours in, I think it clicked with her. I took her to a couple tryouts and held my breath. First one went OK, the second one later that day my jaw was on the floor. It was the most consistent I have ever seen her pitch, and her speed was impressive considering she was focusing more on her upper body than getting a powerful stride.

Just for giggles I taught my 12 yo that has never pitched a day in her life, and after about 15 minutes I had her at a rec level, lol. I wish I would have found out about this sooner.

Always amazed at how good pitchers "want" to throw IR. If PIs would simply forget HE, the world would be a lot better off. This is the one pitch from Werner's drils video. I think the young lady through probably 3 or 4 pitches with pretty good IR, and the rest were HE.

It is a little aggravating to see a very athletic kid like this who needs just a little tuning to go "to the next level".

(And, one more time, thanks to Boardmember for taking the time a few years ago to explain IR.)

I have met Dr. Werner. She is funny and a very nice person. I wish she would "get with the program" about IR.
