Question for the group, although the answer might be very simple. I have probably read every article on here multiple times, looked at every video clip in the forums from the I/R thread to model pitchers etc... The one thing that I think I see (and I am no expert mind you) is that Ueno seems to bend a little more at the waist during release, almost like an ab crunch, then most of the other pitchers.

First is this an accurate statement or am I am seeing things? If it is, is this just a simple case of an elite pitcher doing something slightly different, but not something everyone else would want to emulate. Or does this slight difference give her an advantage?

Just curious everyones thoughts.

Thanks!!

She doesn't bend at release, although she does after release.

Ueno's athleticism is generally underappreciated. She is a phenomenal athlete...she is so much quicker and stronger than anyone else playing the game.

The bend after release is most likely part of slowing down her hand after release. Monica Abbott does something similar, although not as pronounced as Ueno.

Once your DD starts throwing 70MPH, she might want to consider emulating Abbott or Ueno. Until then, I would skip the bend.
