2nd year 12U pitcher thowing in low 50's and wants her father or anyone warming her up to "make the ball pop"

minor request... i've been at tournaments and see some bucket dads/coaches warming up girls who are throwing barely 40 and their mitt makes the loudest pop i've heard!?

What are these gloves?!

While we know it's not all about the pop, to a 12 year old it's a "feel good" thing and gets her amped up for the game -

any suggestions?

My All-Star CMW3000 is a very loud mitt! I broke in a Vinci JCV-22 which was also very loud, just different sounding. To me the All-Star when caught perfectly square in the pocket sounds like a shotgun, but not anywhere else in the glove. The Vinci was loud where ever you caught the ball. With both being caught perfect the All-Star was louder to me.

In my experience, the higher quality gloves have much greater pop because the leather is "harder".

Sort of like the pop of throwing a ball against a brick wall vs. a piece of plywood.

I warmed up my DD with a Nokona borrowed from another dad/coach. Holy cow, my ears were ringing when I was done...no joke. I've never heard such a loud glove. I told the coaches to use it just for the intimidation factor!

Application of a liberal amount of glove or mink oil in the pocket will provide the desired results. My niece also used a Nokona and would do this in games when catching my DD. Sounded like a firecracker and played serious head games with the opposition. :)

I agree with 4KidsDad. The higher quality gloves do give a louder pop due to the quality of the leather. I have an Easton Mako catcher's glove and also bought a Vinci Fortus for my 8 yo and the Mako has a louder pop and it also depends on where you catch the ball in the glove.
