I got the tight spin trainer for my dd about a month ago and she uses it about 5 times a week. Just wondering if anybody has used this and what kind of results have you gotten from it.

I think your thinking of something else. This is a ball on a stick that you can put tension on it and she can practice her spins on it and develop the muscles in her forearm. Supposed to make spins tighter.

I don't have one and probably won't get one, but could see it used to help kids understand the direction of a spin or to break up a routine.

Hello there I'm a mens fastpitch player (pitcher) and instructor here in good o'l Cali. Now, I'm not a big fan of gimmickie pitching aids never have been however, there are 2 that I really like, one being the double ball the Hillhouse version and the other being the spin trainer. The double ball because it really does help girls understand the rise ball I use that along with drills that do not incorporate the thumb. As for the spin trainer I use that mainly for a forearm workout much like the hand squeezers people use to strengthen their grip. After my students are done with their work out and long tosses I typically have them do several sets of spins (mostly riseball) progressively tightening the resistance until their tiny forearms are burning. I use that as well when I'm not playing much to keep my forearm and fingers strength up while practicing the correct spin....Note I use this for the riseball spin ONLY!! Hope that helps

Thank you, that is how I have been having her use it. Can you tell me more about the double ball because riseball is the pitch she is working on now?

Thanks Ken b...

Go to houseofpitching.com it's Bill Hillhouse's website he has a product called the double ball great tool, it helps speed up the process of learning the riseball you can't cheat with the double ball there's only one way to throw it. Worth buying good luck just remember it's a hard pitch to learn correctly just be patient with it it took me nearly a year of throwing the riseball on a weekly basis before I could throw it in a game consistently! Have fun

She's coming along nicely with it. She has finally got the release right but she needs to get a tighter spin on it. I will definitely look into the double ball.
