At 8yo got to keep it simple. Probably release of ball to late, or bending forward at release or a little of both.
Tell her to keep her "nose behind her toes " don't bend over her plant foot, and to release the ball at her belly button.

High pitches are usually indicative of a late release....have her intentionally throw some pitches in the front of the plate, then work your way up.

I'm struggling with understanding a release at the belly button. The back thigh is where I'd suggest. Use the contact/brush with the thigh as the trigger.

High pitches may also be the result of practicing with too high a target. Get off the bucket and try a milk crate. Put your glove 6" off the ground and have her throw to it. In addition to a late release a short stride will cause the ball to come up.

What I like about brush is that it acts as a consistent trigger/reference for release. Telling someone to release earlier, later or at a specific point in space is very difficult--if not impossible. Minimize variables by teaching good posture, whip and setting up the conditions for brush to occur.

I really like how JS talks about setting the stage for good mechanics in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T4Jd7GKg5Q

I believe that following his points of emphasis lead to something like:

Posture, Back Leg and Brush:

Again keep it simple the belly button is an area, the torso, don't carry the ball past your body therefore releasing late. Look at the BI pictures isnt the hand pretty close to the belly button? Jeez it's an 8yo. Start going into palm up at 9 release at 6 and her eyes will glaze over.
