It's an awesome thing to actually see the lights go on in an 8 YO who wants to pitch. My 8U team has 4 or 5 "never pitched before" girls who want to pitch. I remembered something that BM said on this site about teaching a newbie pitching (at least I think it was him...:p). Something to the effect of "you can't learn how to pitch until you learn how to throw underhanded". With my newbies, that's what I've been doing - telling them "all your doing is playing catch underhanded with the catcher". Thanks BM - this one little phrase has made a HUGE difference.

It's thanks in part to Board Member that my dd got the comment at the Futures tryout, "has good mechanics." :) I don't think she'd have gotten that comment on the call before we started the lock it in drills.

Thx for the kind words. I appreciate it very much. It is now and always has been my desire to share the knowledge I've gathered in my career as a mid-level pitcher and eventually a higher level PC with everyone who has the desire to be a pitcher. It's also been my mission to educate parent coaches in a way that allows them to participate in their kids journey in a positive way, vs. trying to help with bad or misunderstood information that leads to frustration and reversal of progress.

It's also been a goal of mine to help other PCs either rethink what they teach, or simply give them another way, or new set of tools to communicate the message they're trying to convey to their student and their parents.
