Hi! I wouldn't call it "influenced by this forum" I would call it growing up. Being 23 doing my first videos vs being 29, almost 30 now, you learn a lot - about yourself, about what knowledge you have learned overtime from tons of coaches and about what you ACTUALLY do. I am not perfect. I grow and learn every day. I want each of you think if you were filmed 7 years ago, would you say things EXACTLY how you say it now in present day? Probably not. We all learn, grow and change. I just happened to do it in more of a public eye than most people in the softball world, so more people get to see my mistakes and my flaws, and maybe the areas that I have matured as a person and as a coach. I would like to think that I help more people than I hurt.

Learn, grow, repeat. That's softball and that's life. It's crazy to me to think that I try to be one of the most positive role models there are out there, yet I can come to a site like this and find SOME people who are the glass half empty kind of people. I chose not to coach that way nor see the world that way. Someone started this thread in support of a video I had posted on my Facebook page, which was encouraging young girls to be independent, self thinkers, go search for knowledge on their own instead of just relying on someone to constantly tell them answers. Think about how that will later translate to their lives in High School, College and beyond that once they start their own job. How you can turn that around on me and twist it is a mindset I can't imagine.
Wow. That is so not what I meant by that statement. There was no intended criticism.

Your words of wisdom to those kids is great. Seek out information. Become a self learner. I love it. And I'm sure since we got an abbreviation of the full conversation that you warned them not to believe EVERYTHING they read on the internet ;)

Trust me when I say, we ALL respect you more than you can imagine, for being a coach that isn't afraid to continue to seek out information, and to always be a student of the game/craft. It would be VERY easy for you to rest on your accomplishments, but you haven't. And kudos to you if you've gained and used information on this website. It's a great think tank where a lot of really smart people (not including me) freely share information.

And yeah... in bold above....you've helped more people than you'll ever know. Not sure if there's a way to count, but your Powerdrive video has been used as a model more so than ANY other I know of. It's a model I use with my own daughter.

So in a nutshell... I will say Thank You. I never thought I'd get the opportunity to do so.

Thank you so much - this means A LOT!

I do know there is a lot of support out there, so thank you to you all. Never expected to find myself in this position. I am very grateful to get this opportunity to help young players/families as much as I can, as often as I can.

Can't tell you how many people I direct to that slo motion video you did for the powerdrive. The camera quality and angles were awesome and you could actually see what goes on every millisecond when you pitch. Funny thing is as much as pitchers are different whenever I can get high quality slo mo video it is amazing how similar the basic mechanics are even if they explain it completely different. As always thanks for your input, I think a few people were worried that a some girls might latch onto a teaching video that was not actually teaching what they do and try to emulate poorly taught mechanics. I think it is always great to focus on what high quality pitchers DO even if they say something different. It is also good that there are different teachers out there that might be able to explain something to someone differently so it really clicks.

Last year when then 9yo DD first started pitching we watched a lot of the Amanda instructional videos on Youtube. DD really responded to the earnestness and competitive passion in her voice. We watched a lot of videos where the instructor was so dry and these were harder for a nine year old to really take in.

But her videos seemed to sink in and DD would jump up to emulate whatever she saw. Moving on to the 1000fps power drive video was really cool for her to see the detail normally lost in blur. She was such a big part for inspiring a young pitcher to really strive for greatness. :)

Her pitching coach, and Mike White from a clinic, were not overly supportive of DD's Amanda Scarborough back swing that she also adopted, on her own, from the videos. But, she won't change it, yet, even though I would like her to not bend over so much...:)

That's funny - because when I first read your statement I thought "what a jerk". Perhaps there were qualifiers you meant to use, like "sift through the BS on the internet..." Because the "on the internet..." part would have totally changed the meaning to what I think you meant...FWIW...

Your 1000FPS has been the single most important clip I have used to help young pitchers get started. Like you said at your clinic (with a little guidance and some great model video) they can in large part be their own coach. EXCELLENT job Amanda.
