Two thoughts what is true. One says step mostly straight peel or roll over. Other says cross power line to the right for right hand pitcher rollover. Ìf step across is correct how far to the right. Yes I'm new and have my own opinion but looking for conformation.

I still follow the wisdom of the great Bill Hillhouse. Throw it like a fastball but release a bit early. Works for my DD and she kills it with that pitch.

"Great Bill Hillhouse" ? Is he kin to "Goofy Bill Hillhouse" that comes on here and post? Yep don't make the drop anymore complicated than it has to be.

Cross over significantly with weight forward, roll with the shoulder and finish by rolling your hand toward the ground. It is called the Government Drop. It is overly complicated, costly in terms of injury, often ineffective, looks silly, but popular with those that do not know any better. :)

"Great" Bill Hillhouse... do you owe me money or something and trying get out of it?

Glad to see you here, Bill! I hope that you keep sharing your wisdom with us! I think that whether or not your are "Great" is an open issue with some, but I am always quoting your wisdom to my two DDs who are pitchers!

I'd say no need for the crossover unless you're trying to throw inside. You'll wind up swinging too much around the body and as Riseball says making it more complicated than it needs to be.

A rollover drop is basically a fastball thrown with IR. As Riseball said, hinge at the waist to bring weight forward and the release point higher. Coach Rick Pauly talks about getting the spine near vertical rather than slightly tilted back.
