Not to diminish DFP's influence and these young athlete's hard work and accomplishments,
but...

I'm not sure how useful any comparison videos that span more than 6 months or so can be,
if the "before" vids are of 8-12 year olds? I say, because no matter how good the instruction,
at least some (any many might say "a lot") of the improvements we see can be attributed to general maturity and "body awareness".

The knowledge gained from participating in this forum certainly doesn't hurt!
But there is also a long history of great pitchers that somehow "figured it out on their own", (despite sometimes hurtful teachings!)
without the benefit of the knowledge and analysis tools that we have at our disposal today.

So my point is: comparing the improvements of a 14 yr old pitcher with 3 years of "DFP training" to when she started at age 11,
may not be as attributable to learning from this forum as you think?

Sure, "doing it the wrong way - only better" is somewhat of an oxymoron; but historically, some gifted athletes do evolve from poor mechanics on their own - somehow. What DFP really does, IMO, is guide a greater number of pitchers toward potential greatness; and hopefully cut their learning curve by 1/100th.

Here is my DD.

She started pitching in May 2014.

This is what she looks like nowadays.

Often times, we'd get unsolicited advice telling her to follow through with her elbow pointed towards the catcher and her hand touching her pitching shoulder. And that's the way we started out until we stumbled upon DFP. Luckily, we were able to unlock her elbow and get the ball up (mostly) at the 9 o'clock position before she started her first year of travel ball. While I have never personally met or talked to a DFP member, DFP has given me the courage and the ammunition to work on IR and BI despite what is normally coached out in my neck of the woods, and I am truly grateful for those who have devoted their time and resources to provide content on this site. Thanks!

During this off-season, we continue to refine her mechanics, while I work on unlocking the elbows of two other pitchers on my DD's team....

This is very impressive progress!

GREAT thread, JJ!!

This is video from 2014, her 1st year pitching. She had attended one pitching clinic the previous summer from a HE-style instructor. I found some Bill Hillhouse videos the previous winter and eventually ended up at DFP. I did my best to help her to learn to throw the ball properly while spending hours reading all of the info I could here.

This is video from the day before meeting Java for the first time, in August 2015. She was able to get to this point pretty much from DFP alone.

This is from a couple days ago. Still using DFP to help her every day, along with trips to see Java once a month, weather permitting. As wonderful as the all of the advice on this site is, my ability to translate it to her is often limited. She makes more progress in 2 hours with Java than she does in two months with me.
