There are a couple of visualization cues I will use with regards to the drag foot. The first is I will tell them to think their foot is a brick and it's attached to their hip with a rope. They are dragging the brick behind them. It lets them know to relax the pushing leg after they launch off of the rubber. Another is I tell them to think they are jumping over a puddle and they are skimming their toe across the top of the puddle. I've had good success with this over the years. Especially when you break down the motion and work specifically on that part of it.

If you watch the Sports Science video of Jenny Finch you'll see she drags the whole side of her right foot.

I've been working on this with a couple of my students. My suggestion is to study the "Drive Mechanics" sticky at the top of this section. What's been helpful, when you work on it is to dry pitch 3-4 times followed by using the ball. Most pitchers will tell you they cannot feel the difference so dry pitching will help them feel the difference. Java the author of D.M. Suggested letting your stride foot point more towards the catcher . That really helped one Of my students. Theirs a lot more but the D.M. Is an excellent start. Good luck
