And just to be clear, I know the clip was to focus on brush, but make sure that she doesn't lose good arm whip mechanics in the process because no amount of brush interference is going to help if the she doesn't have the palm in the correct spots upstream.

With that said, she has a lot of great things going on, great stride, glove arm, brush, front side resistance. Keep up the good work!

That is why Gillis and others referred to the mechanic as "brush assisted whip".

thanks....she is 13, she is just getting past 5'9" , she holds it with 3 fingers.

THIRTEEN???! She's clearly got a bright future. That is, if her desire stays strong. From one DFP friend to another..... Make sure you, as her dad, don't push her too hard. Also, she's getting to an age where she only wants to hear praise from her father. Make sure you give her plenty. ;-)

JJ. What speed was she at before she hit 57 mph? Was it a steady climb in speed?

I know there r a lot of things that u work on but what one thing have you done that has given her the most help in her pitching?

Can u show us the start of that clip? I would like to see her drive off the mound.

The reason I ask all these question is b/c of my DD. We r at 52 mph r now. She hit 55 on walk throughs. I am hoping we can make 55 her regular speed. We also have been working on pushbacks and the 2 step. She just turned 14.

Your DD has great front side resistance. Timing looks good.
Thanks.

SB- the climb is anything but steady....long plateaus and then inexplicable gains. I can say that for her, higher speeds will show up in her walkthroughs first (makes sense)...and then when she realizes a gain her pitching speed is close to her walkthrough speed for a while again and then the walkthrough starts to get higher again. Not sure what this means but it seems to be a pattern.

As for one thing, really there isn't one, she has worked on so many areas and worked on them so many times, I really can't even remember what has helped the most. Honestly for speed, I really just think her growth has been the main factor, she was smart enough to decide to be tall with long arms and big hands. If I had to point to one thing that has helped her so far it has been my involvement with this board and her willing ness to practice. Having access to this community for input, comparison to video of her peers, input from expert pitching coaches etc. has been the real key. So many folks have contributed in some way it is impossible to recount. it might be something Doug posts with one of his students that clicks, or something Java posts or a text I get from a certain guy who likes cowbells, I never know what tidbit is going to either give me an idea or make me realize that I was missing something. Her progress is really the result of her being willing to stick with it and me being willing to try my best to stay one step ahead of her and to seek out advice from some great folks. So I am short on specifics but I can tell you that if you read enough, throw enough, and she practices enough, then everything just kind of gets better over time.

as for her drive part I'll dig it up and post it when I get a chance...

JJ. Great point. I agree with you 100% that this board has made her better! Not only helping me learn the mechanics of I/R but also knowing which PC to stay away from.

You guys are doing great on your journey. Keep up it up.

Thanks.

Java, pm when you will b home. I will call you.

Thanks.
