Long time lurker, first time poster. Hope the gif works. I have been reading this forum since Hal Skinner was still allowed and BoardMember was just starting to change the world (mad props to JavaSource for carrying the torch). I was a beginning bucket dad and realized i knew nothing about pitching, let alone anything about the sport of fastpitch. Born and raised a beer league slowpitcher i had no clue what i was getting into. Funny how protective PC's are about the dogma of their sport. Originally 8yo, my now 10yo DD started down the Finch HE style of pitching and could never keep a ball anywhere in front of the backstop. I researched a bit to try and find how i could help her and after I had watched over an hour of Hillhouse videos and seemed to understand the simplicity of the motion, DD's PC (who taught HE and slam the door) told me Hillhouse style was not effective and didn't believe in it, watch Jennie Finch and do what she does.........ok. I didn't know what i was looking for so started finding Finch videos. Nothing seemed to help.

So I started to research as much as possible and found little on the interwebs that was very useful until i found DFP. Many many hours of reading, printing I/R in the classroom, and following the arguments that riseballs didn't actually jump, i realized that there was alot of knowledge on this site that didn't seem to actually be available locally. I guess i had to try myself.

Many hours of work, reverse chaining, liberty drill, I/R, all the tag words that are relevant on this site brings us to where we are today. Key phrase "throw from pocket" seemed to work and video'd a short clip of her. Again, hopefully the GIF works.

Thanks to everyone here, it looks like she found the brush assisted whip that I had read so much about. We now need to continue to spend time on getting the full circle down as well as the drive mechanics and front side resistance. I think she now gets it and can feel the ball explode out of her hand.

Problem now is that she likes catching better.....:p

any help on embedding GIF is welcome thanks.

I would not recommend this for any purpose. I believe Coach Torina is a a very good coach, but I have strong feelings about what she teaches in her pitching videos. I'm hoping more folks will follow the lead of those like Hillhouse, BoardMember, Muhleisen, Balwsick and Pauly and help put an end to all the misinfo out there. I'm very excited about Fastpitch Foundations and really looking to seeing more info about their products. Exciting times!

Yea it was in a corrections clip. I understand the difference. It was just a linkage...Synchronistic event... I am getting to ready to make the whip-it for hitting...thinking I might be able to get the feel for the whip... in hitting & pitching all in one sock.

Don't worry... We Built the Foundation when DD was 9. I'm making toys for my 2yr old GDD.

I also know that gadgets aren't popular on here... But they do lend creditability to this one. The other lady throwing it, is now the PC for Georgia Bulldogz, and pitched this year in the NPF.

This thread is about brush. The gadget does not promote brush, nor does it promote whip. Again, I'm at a complete loss...

It does promote whip.... Like I said. Its a corrections for arm circle video

Not going to tell you a gain about linkage... I cut out what I wanted, typed in Whip in DFP search... this thread came up I posted it here.

Not really sure why you are@ loss...

The thread is about brush. Torina does not advocate for brush and treats it as a problem to be corrected.

OK walk it back ... you said it wasn't about Whip, when clearly 1/3 of it is.... I read about the wall drill on DPF 5 yrs. ago....3rd one is plain lame....

The thread died... why didn't you bump it ??? OP clearly stated she wanted to be a catcher....

If you are wanting me to delete it, I might, if you ask me too. TXT me # in signature...

This drill obviously promotes straight arm and no brush with a HE ending so it seems like the opposite of what we want to post in regards to finding brush.

Not paying any attention to the pitcher...or coach for that matter... only the gadget....because it is a similar concept to this....
