I've tried it in the past and felt it reduced my balance.....I'll give it a whirl today...me.... not DD. I've actually gotten to the point I can chuck it pretty well.

Right on. Remember, you're not sliding the right leg just for giggles... in fact, it centers on it's own as a result of rearward weight transfer and taking a wider initial stance. The key is to make it part of balance...

Syd is sliding it... rather than letting it center, PC. It should be part of the lean... not slide, then lean then go. Start the lean during the transfer of weight rearward. Also, get her to keep the elbow into her body, behind the side seam of her shirt.

Semi-novice observation here, but shouldn't her plant leg land slightly left of the powerline?

In the vid's, she's crossing over and stepping right of the line. Wouldn't this be causing her to come off balance and have to catch herself falling toward 3B?

Yes she is off the line... She was trying it for first time. It was easy to add. As you can see Java cautioned she wasn't doing it correctly. She is starting to the left instead of where she always did. I'm thinking... it did power up her drive, and she had some left over, that she didn't get the brakes on.

I'm wondering if she comes on to the left of the line, if that will bring her hip and leg on through and allow her to brush. Looks like the arm is there, you can even see the hip trying to work in that direction. Just a thought.

I am kind of late to the party so I apologize if this has already been discussed, but it looks like her plant foot lands pointed to 3B. I think a lot of the power loss when she falls off to the 3B side of the rubber could be eliminated if she would get her toe pointed 20-30 degrees from HP instead of 80-90 degrees.

her "slide" seems a bit "off"...

I see her un-weighting her foot, lifting her toes, and sliding her heel, in an ankle-flexed position.
I think this doesn't promote a good forward lean, because of the rearward position it puts her hips in.

She slides the foot, but then does a "rolling start", rather than getting her hips forward and getting in a good sprinter's position as part of the lean.
Look at Java's vids on drive mechanics and really study the "pawing motion" he is striving for on the drive foot action.

Also, study what Java explains about the slide. (in this thread, above)
It is not a "forced action" so much as a natural centering movement that is a reaction to mild rearward intertia in preparation for getting forward into a lean - overlap.
I see her sliding her hips sideways, but there is no rearward component.

Also, you may consider simplifying for now, and eliminate that deep waist bend,
because I think it gives the impression of a forward lean, falsely.
Her hips don't seem to get much forward movement, before push - just her upper body.
