Top 10 - Ueno and her coach

Enjoy the Japanese! I can't understand a word, but I do get a great deal out of watching what they are doing.

Great video. Note: at the 24.10 sec mark they compare the riseball on the left with the fastball on the right and in my opinion the only real difference is the riseball's spin axis is tilted upwards but certainly not true backspin. By the way, Ueno's 119kmh pitch translates to 74mph. Just awesome.

Bump...

Okay, I found a college student who did a little translation. While it's not a translation of everything that was said (the student only knew some Japanese), once you get into this clip a bit, you will find the gold, particularly when "brush" is discussed.

Additional translated segments to come...

Some have suggested that a pitcher should first learn to throw underhanded before actually learning to pitch. Here are segments of a clip shown in learning to throw underhand threads.

I like to think of this as a sort of "Arm Symmetry and Posture" drill.

Thanks, Sluggers, for referring to this clip today!

And..... This drill is a natural subsequent drill to the last one I posted. I think it's great for timing and the general feel of throwing underhand.

THANK YOU! Great, great, great thread! So many takeaways! Curious though, how tall is the pitcher in post #46? She looks like she can dunk!! Again, many many thanks!!!

*Bump.
There is a lot of information that can be very useful for current members and especially great for new members who has some questions concerning pitching. I am still wondering why it isn't a sticky yet…guess if it keeps getting bumped, new members will find it.
