After watching a lot of Japanese pitchers, Ueno in particular. Their BI seems a lot more aggressive than elite pitchers from the US. Ueno is banging...not brushing!

It looks like a bang, but I'd describe it as a wrap, or a roll around the hip. After a couple hours, my forearm is pink but I don't have any sensation of having hit anything repetitvely.

She looks a bit more open at release here, but maybe it's the angle of the photo...

I would call that closed. Notice her front foot angle. Toes point to the catcher, therefore her hips and torso follow suit.
Ueno has a similar front foot... Like Rick said above, both of them have extreme contact....both of them are the two fastest women in the world.....hummmmm?

Both shots show her at about the same angle (50-55?) The angle of the shot I posted is from up the first base line a bit and without other references, it looks like she's throwing straight at the camera. If you note her position relative to the rubber, that second base is out of view and her eyes are looking to the left; it helps put it into perspective.

This is probably my favorite brush-assisted arm-whip clip of a pitching instructor doing it!
