Thanks Coach James. That is exactly what we're looking for. You are correct about the pitches going high. We were working on that this morning. She has been working hard to work through the muscle memory issues, she has already seen a lot of improvement in accuracy since the beginning of the season. It really makes it easier when the dd sees the results of her hard work.

accuracy= (I/R + posture at release + brush interference)/grip pressure....a lot of good feedback so far but I don't think I saw any mention of a lack of brush. It is hard to tell from the video, but forward leaners usually suffer from a lack of brush and a pushing arm instead of a whipping arm. She has good athleticism though so with a little effort I think she will make the necessary corrections.

You have described the roller coaster of improving her pitch. You will have to forgo some short term results to earn long term gain. As you start the process you will hit lows that may have you questioning why you started. Then there will be flashes of brilliance that will knock you off your bucket. It will all come together she will throw better than she ever has. Stick with it and be patient. Overcoming a motion that she has practiced and had success with will take time. 6 months of practice should show some significant improvement.
Have fun. It's all worth it.

I had no idea how important the brush was until I had read I/R in the classroom. We started with that about 5 weeks ago, unbelievable the difference that made. She still does not do it every time as was pointed out with the leaning forward. When warming up before full speed pitches , she is more upright and the speed and accuracy is great. I guess I should have put two and two together on the leaning forward and the loss of some control. Thanks again guys for all the things to look for. This gives a solid picture of where we need to be.

Stay vigilant in posting updated, biweekly videos of dd's progress. With each video, you'll be getting a ton of free advice from many perspectives. Good luck in your journey, James

Here is a more recent video of the DD. Still working on the posture issues. It appears to me that she has a timing issue, along with weak front side resistance. To me her arm is ahead of her lower body. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Vast improvement! Good job
Biggest issue now is driving outward with her right leg quad rather than the left leg just striding out. Continue to build upon the resistance in all 4 points. Leg, hip, torso, and upper arm. Really pull the biceps towards the ribs with the abs, allowing the forearms to lag behind the elbows as this will increase the whip. Let the area about 2" above the right wrist brush into and past her thigh to also accelerate the whip, this also aids in consistancy.

I was just going to point out the drive leg issue. James beat me to it. Watch how it drags up so slowly. That could actually be the cause of a lot of her posture issues.

If your leg gets left behind (assuming your upper body and front leg are going out hard), your upper body will tend to bend forward to compensate and keep you balanced. It's an instinct probably going back to being chased by animals and marauders; if you fall down you get caught. Have her work on pushing off more, and earlier, so the right leg doesn't get left behind. If you do that she'll have to gain resistance on the front side or else will fly through it.

Do you happen to have any video from the other side?

In these clips I'm seeing a pretty straight arm. Video from the other side would help to see if she's getting any whip.

I wonder if some work on the 2 step sequence would be helpful in getting her body out a little quicker so it can get into a stronger and more upright posture? She's getting a strong step, but it seems to get her over-extended and makes it tough to get into a good position for release.

Thanks for the feedback. She just started the 2 step drill about a week ago. It has helped some. When she does the drill, it appears that she is more upright. Im not sure if a shorter stride out would help clean up her drive. Her right leg has aways been an issue. Not sure what to do to get it up to speed. She does the drill with a foam ball in her hand, but does not release. She has been preforming the drill everyday for the last week. I also noticed the straight arm. Her team pitching coach is a HE style coach. He has her doing wrist flips weekly, so that doesn't help. I'm not sure what to do, as there are no I/R PC in this area.

She needs to firm up her left leg when it comes down. She needs to straighten the left leg. Her left leg is acting like a shock absorber, reducing her speed.
