Start a new thread. I think it is an awesome idea. Learn to pitch so you can learn to teach. Feeling it makes seeing it and explaining it so much easier.

You know.... I have yet to measure the speed of my (few) pitching students. I guess I eventually should.

I do it for fun and to add a little competion/motivation with my kids, but good pitching wins just as much or better than 3-5 mph most every time.

We rarely clock her speed. We do frequently measure the size difference in her pitching bicep.

A couple years ago I asked a high school pitcher how many pitches she had. Her answer was 9 with a couple different change ups. She went off to a D3 or NAIA school to pitch. Her dad told me that going off to college is when she started learning to pitch, that if she tried to rely on her fastball her career would be short. I asked what he meant by learning to pitch. He said movement and placement.
