Long time lurker - my dd is 10 and has been pitching for over a year now. She was taught the HE form of pitching and for her age was doing well - not that I could compare her to much since I am just a mom who didn't pitch or play, however, her coach was very excited about how well she was progressing. Then her pitching coach got prego and had a baby - she didn't want me to take my dd to anyone else since she was doing so good so I was practicing with dd just "parroting" everything I would hear when I would catch for her during lessons. Fast forward 8 weeks the pc was gone and obviously dd starting doing things differently - the main thing is that she twists her wrist on release instead of "flipping" it which is driving her pc insane. I have been doing a lot of reading on this board about IR. I can't say I understand much of it and wouldn't feel comfortable trying to move dd to this type of technique on my own however I truly feel that dd needs a method that is more natural vs forced and the flip is just not working for her.

So finally my question, lol. How do I find a pitching coach who would teach her IR? Her current pc is moving and has already started to distance herself from us so I am ready to make a move now. Frankly I am not even really sure where to start to find pitching coaches in the area where I live (KS side suburb of KC). I have looked at the local training facilities and see they do have instructors - but where else can I look to find a coach, especially one that teaches IR?

I took some video at her last game - I will try and get it uploaded for all to give thoughts.

In my humble opinion the best pitching coach for your daughter is your daughter. Teach her the "why's" at the early age and you will save yourself aggravation later on. This means you need to educate yourself so you at least know what bad coaching looks like so you can make sure your daughter isn't getting bad advice.

You are better off without a pitching coach than you are with a pitching coach teaching incorrect mechanics. Teach her how to whip the ball and how to make self corrections (high, low, left, and right). When she gets older (12 or 13) start taking her to a coach that can teach the pitches. Your foundation will be set already. The basics aren't as complicated as you think.

Hope that helps.

It would probably help if we knew roughly where you lived. Our members come from all over, so there's a possibility someone knows a good PC who will teach her the proper mechanics.

I am ready to bring in a PC to help with my DD. I would love to get a recommendation on a PC on the KS side of KC and save myself LOTS of time and headache in the process. Please!!!!
