Hi - my youngest just started her pitching journey a couple weeks ago when she decided she wanted to continue to play and that she wanted to be a pitcher. She did get some lessons from my oldest daughter last summer when my oldest taught our entire team some basics for pitching, but it wasn't until this summer my youngest decided she wanted to go for it. She will turn 9 in about 5 months.

Any suggestions and thoughts would be appreciated.

Very nice start! I'd like to see her start her circle a with a little more umph instead of speeding up right into whip. I'm think she might be bending at the waist a little bit. Again, very cool for a couple weeks!

I had an interesting talk with DD #3's pitching coach the other day. DD #3 had a late game, and they had to wait for a HS varsity game to finish first. PC's DD, a senior, was pitching in the varsity game.
PC pointed out to me 3 other seniors with more pitching talent than his DD. Not one of them still pitched. He mentioned a senior at another HS who pitched as recently as last summer, but not anymore.

Your DD doesn't have to be the most talented pitcher in the world. She just has to have fun, work hard, and be willing to improve. She has to be willing to get pounded again and again without giving up on herself, figure out what she did wrong, work on it, until she doesn't get pounded anymore.
Then, one day your DD might be the last pitcher in the circle, while all the FORMER pitchers are watching her.

8 year old - pitching mechanics

Here you go Ken. I had her try to get a little oomph into the start of the circle. Looks like she is still bending at the waist a little. I didn't address that with her.

Shouldn't the back foot slide forward more? Thanks.

...Google RLG Fundamentals 1 (includes drag) ...

Then after you have wasted a bunch of time and money go to another PC to get your kid to stop leaping like Lacey Waldrop and to teach them to throw properly.

Here is a 2 minute clip of the pitching mechanics that has earned the OLIF seal of approval:

Stay behind the ball and point the fingers at you, because you the one! LMAO
