IMO, the core torque happens prior to, or as, the stride foot getting down, not a torque after the stride foot is down. At least that is how I interpreted Rick P.

To me, "slam the door" is the hips are closing at the same time as the arm is delivering the ball. I like to see my DD at or around 45 degrees at release, and if the hips follow closed after the arm has passed, so be it.

Pauly's "Bow-Flex-Bow" in the shoulders (with arms) is very visible here!

[/QUOTE](ah...the good old day. Going back in a time machine to before there were high speed videos...I always did look dashing in aviator glasses and a mullet.)
Oh well...back to pitching. In fact, there is a "one size fits all". There is a correct way to pitch. And, what you are describing ain't it.

Haha...so much for having a respectful conversation....

To properly gauge the difference between legs and no legs in pitching, you need to take them out, ie have the pitcher sit or something with legs up off the ground, or at least not let them move any part of the lower body . The study everyone quotes shows clearly that w/o legs (as a brace and push off), there would be far less power in the pitch.

I am sure that is not correct. We have done a lot of isolation drills where my daughter does sit on something or is on one knee and front leg completely extended to brace herself strictly to work on arm whip and is within 10% of her max velocity. Far less power to me means 50% or less of max velocity and that is no where near correct.

FWIW - My DD came home from college and showed up at my TB practice to help with my pitchers. Standing flat footed in flip flops she easily hit high 50"s and eventually a couple of 60's on the gun. Her leg drive adds to her velocity but it is all about the arm whip.
