Does Hillhouse use HE (Except his hand goes up to the opposite shoulder of his throwing arm) or is HE different? Also, curious why HE is looked down upon? Sorry, just a curious day!

In short, it is just looked down upon in this forum. If you want to learn more, which any intelligent person would, check our any information you can find on Dr Sherry Werner. She has been working with Doug Finch over 20 years and has proven data on why HE is the safest way to pitch.

Fact is that there is more than one way to have success pitching. Just watch any college softball game and you will see multiple different styles.

The IR vs HE debate will go on for years to come. Just make a decision and stick with it.

He absolutely does not advocate HE. In one of his videos he specifically calls it out as bad instruction.

HE is bad because it encourages a pushing motion instead of a whip. It is looked down upon because it is simply a myth and does not actually exist in ANY good pitcher's actual finish. Sure some very good pitchers finish the pitch and 14 seconds later point their elbow at the catcher but this is always some tack on finish that is done well after release.

Any pitcher that actually pitches HE is long gone from the circle by about 14 years old if they are playing at any decent level of competition.

This is really misleading, can you share a clip of a single pitcher that is successful with an HE delivery? I have never seen one.

That is not to say that I agree or disagree with Dr Werner, just that there is data out there to make the argument...

just to clarify

No HE (or Hello Elbow) is a style taught where the throwing hand of the pitcher finishes on the throwing shoulder with the throwing arm elbow pointed at the catcher.

That is pretty much the exact opposite of what Hillhouse teaches.
