mann,

This site has everything you need for good info. and people to contact. If you haven't yet drank the HE cool aid all you need to do is keep an open mind and view some of the video on this site. Do what the elite pitchers are doing, not necessarily what they teach it speeds up the process. I see that you have high lighted the girl throwing 65/67 at 13 Saw it checked it and she was real. Beverly Bandits. Not what I would call normal, truly gifted young lady

and i do not need any one calling bull#### I carry a radar with me anytime I go to a Game I clocked them both quite a few times...

I would be VERY, VERY careful about videoing or using radar on a pitcher that is not you daughter or her teammate. Once parents realize you are not a college coach, you could end up being labeled a creeper

I think 60 is the new 55 only when people are adding 3-5 mph for defective radar guns. Girls throwing 60+ in games is still relatively rare.

I do not ever record any they are not my child and I hide the gun fairly well

MNDad,

You may be right, but I know I'm not adding and I'm using the newer Ball Coach. I will admit they we don't really go to any low level stuff anymore once high school is over so I'm around higher level players most of the time. There was a time when I felt the same way about exaggerating speeds. I'm from Southeastern Wisconsin and I'm seeing plenty of 15 and 16 year old girls throwing 58/60 but over is rare until 18U. I have always been told that Wisconsin is behind so I have to think there is more out there.

I saw alot of 58/60 at 16U too. It's that 60+ that's so rare. Many girls can hit it while training throwing just fastballs over and over. Doing it in game situations when you're mixing up pitches is much more difficult. I don't see many HS age kids throwing rise balls with proper spin 60+. DD has decent size and speed and her rise tops out at 59.

I don't think WI is behind. You just had a WI girl lead a team to a third place 16U PGF fiish at Nationals a couple years ago. With the huge growth in domed stadiums and the ability to play year round midwestern girls are quickly closing that gap between CA girls.

Around here a high 50's pitcher with some spin will be efficient for the most part. I'd love to see a 68mph 13 yr old.... Is she all gas or can she spin it too?
The trend is definitely rising for quality pitching. Look at how many major D1 schools that are giving their freshman pitchers a bulk of the circle time. Here in a couple more years, these game will be 1-0 in the 15th inning due to the incredible pitching!

She is the real deal, saw her in Elgin Ill. last fall, supposed to be going to Mizzuo. She was keeping it down and by the way the ball was tailing, I could see that she had some spin. She looked good, no skip, hop, or leap and was not overly big either. My guess would be that she will learn to spin the ball just fine, she has a few years to get it. She was pitching 16U not 14U and the was some contact but very few hits the whole weekend.

If shes pitching 14's would spin matter?
Good point. There aren't very many 14 yr olds that can handle speeds up in the 60s...
I'm assuming a kid that good would play up quite a bit. I'm saying if she's able to spin it with those speeds, that's a real threat, and an amazing kid to do it at 14... not many 20 yr olds can do that.
