What's the most pitches your DD has thrown in one day?

Need to vent. 12yo DD's team has only two healthy pitchers right now. On Saturday, coaches had my DD pitch all three games including a 9 inning ITB in the 3rd game. I'm estimating that she threw over 400 pitches in 21 innings (including pregame warm-ups and pitches between innings). Pitcher #2 missed the first game and for some odd reason she was not allowed to warm-up for Game 2 or 3. After the game, DD iced her shoulder and bicep (first time in 5 years we have felt that she needed ice). While I appreciate the coaches having confidence in her, I'm scratching my head trying to understand the logic of not pitching a fresh pitcher in game 2 or 3 (or any part thereof)?

Has anyone had a similar experience and/or has your DD pitched that many innings in a day?

14 years old threw over 400 from the circle during a long day in the losers bracket. Knew it going into it so she threw with her legs and I called lots of change ups

The longest day for my DD was a 27 inning day when she was 14. The last game went 13 innings, ITB for the last 6. I have no idea how many pitches. Many of the innings were short though which helped. The defense made all of the plays they were supposed to which kept the innings from being extended. She was a asleep in car 15 minutes after leaving the field.

I'm glad this question came up. My DD is now the older group in 10u (04') and is getting more mound time this year. This is what we've been waiting for but I wasn't prepared for her being used too much. She pitched three games on Saturday and it was too much. Her speed stayed surprisingly consistent (42-44). I've read other post on this but no real answers on pitch counts. She's good but has mechanical issues to tackle (Drive Mech).

If I set an 8 inning max or 150-175 pitches including warm-ups too much? I want to be on the side of caution because of her age and not being used to more than about 4-6 innings. According to our game changer app she's averaging about 13-16 pitches an inning.

What are other 10U/12U girls doing regarding inning and pitch count?

At the Breast Cancer Shootout last year my DD, who was second year 10u at the time, threw over 400 pitches on a championship Sunday. This was because of an injury to our other pitcher, so came in after the first inning of the quarterfinals and pitched remaining 3 innings(time limit in this game and semi finals) then pitched whole semi final game, and then pitched a complete 8 inning ITB championship game throwing 142 pitches in that game.

Assuming she has decent mechanics, the number of pitches she can throw without physical damage should not matter. The question is how many pitches in an inning, game, or day can she throw and still remain effective. Which make me wonder why you are asking for an arbitrary number based on a wide range of anecdotal evidence and opinion? You already have the answer in the data. Review Game Changer and determine at what point is she no longer effective. Her "effective pitch count" should be well below the pitch count to throw without physical damage.

As a mentioned in the original post, I am partly venting my displeasure with the coaches decision to pitch her so much in one day when they have a perfectly effective pitcher as #2 that they didnt even care enough to at least warm her up. This wasn't championship Sunday but Saturday and had we won the game they would have had to win 5 games the next day to earn a PGF berth. My DD was completely exhausted and would not have been effective the rest of the tournament. The other team used 3 pitchers that game. Just short sighted by our coaches in my opinion. Seems like they were sending a message to pitcher #2 at my daughters expense?

Secondly, I was wondering what others have experienced and whether there was any long term fatigue/injuries from pitching so much. Two days later DD says her bicep is still sore. During the game her mechanics did not break down and it was 1-1 going into the 9th inning so she was pretty effective even though it was her 3rd game of the day pitching.

Never really kept track of it when we were playing in the younger age groups, but I would estimate my DD probably threw 250 pitches in a day once or twice. I would recommend voicing your concerns to the coaching staff. Do not let an overzealous coach pitching your DD until her arm falls off.
