According to this article, they said the pitcher "had not pitched an inning this season because of her illegal pitches". No comments from California regarding this...and according to Weekly, there is NOTHING in the book that rules AGAINST having a toe flap. If that is true, then it appears that Cali found a loophole and is taking advantage of it.

I thought that the article regarding the "pitching flap" deserved it's own thread.

Very Interesting.

I have several pitchers that have been putting stuff on their shoes to prevent the shoes from being worn through due to toe drag. I guess it doesn't say that you can't do that. So what if you made it a little flappier?

So they have choices;

Make the flapper illegal--and all other subsequent devices that will pop up, like too big shoes:rolleyes: They'll have to activate an official shoe checker.

Make the crow-hop/leap legal.

Oh, no. Teresa Wilson must have turned up in CA. When UofA had their melt down, due to Fowler's IPs, (at the CWS and on TV,) Coach Wilson put an inch of tape on her shoe. She was still illegal. There are leaps and then, there are LEAPS.

Just drag the toe. It cannot be that hard.

So, it is obvious that she was probably illegal, for a long time. Think of the teams that she probably beat, because "She has never had an IP called, before." Whether it gives her an advantage or not, due to the letter of the rules, she is illegal.

I never understand why the coaches put up with that. You have a pitcher you are giving money to, to do a job for you, and because on an illegal motion that pitcher cannot do her job. I'd make sure that pitcher fixed her motion.

I saw a photo of her as a junior in high school, the leap was there then.
