Can't believe I'm gettin caught up in the radar ratings for the first time... Its that time of year. Had a 2020 Dad come to DW's work and tell her his DD was throwing 57mph.

What is the formula for measuring speed from video. Seen it on here before... ???

If you have to use us to prove your case, you might just be in the same boat. Also, I prefer "passionate about my DD's enjoyment and development" rather than "obsessed". ;)

Got the Jugs Radar Pro. but still want to be able to go back and calc. DD's old clips. Here is what I come up with...for a fast ballpark.

Since we can only calc. over all average speed this way:

Measure distance from release point to 3-4' out in front of Plate. The average = about 9'. 40'-9=31' ???

Your video editor will give you the seconds of the clip. (Exsample 00:00:00.37)

31 / .37 = 83.78378378378378 round off to 84 (or not )

31 / .37 = 84 * .682 = 57.288 mph (round off to) 57 mph + 3 mph = 60 MPH

I'll get it closer, when I learn to use this radar...

Isn't it possible to calculate speed by counting total frames from release to catch and knowing the approximate distance?
