I'm really excited for this pitcher. She has some new-found velocity and accuracy and I attribute it to several things. First I'll mention what we are stilling working on... She has always struggled with getting tall (notice she still has a heavy drag foot). Also, I don't like how bent that glove arm is when the glove is up.

I really like the arm-whip and brush interference. No, she isn't smacking her hip. After pitching practice, you can hardly even tell she's touched that forearm on anything.

I really like the release timing this action gives her.
I also like how she's improving with her landing, though there is still a lot of improvement in that regard.

I like her release, but she needs to let the energy completely release through to the target. She's throwing hard, but I see more velocity there with just a few tweaks.

What's also interesting is how her confidence grows as she all these things are coming together.

aside from the alligator front arm and the weird drag foot orientation I think she looks great. Looks like the power from that foot plant and resistance is getting into her arm at exactly the right time to really whip it.

Yes Doug, drag foot looks rolled over too far and may be precluding some power. I agree the glove arm looks way too bent and the glove slap to the middle of the thigh might result in a little loss of power.

I agree, the throwing arm looks nice and relaxed with an excellent whip. Front side resistance looks really good too, from what I can see off the clip.

I dunno, looks awful old school with her whacking her hip. Best to let her figure it out on her own than some dad teaching her. :)

Congrats!

Yup! She needs to get taller through her drive so that drag foot isn't dragging so heavy, and she needs to land taller and firmer through her (weak) torso.

I'll subtly work on that glove arm. I don't want to distract her too much from the good stuff she's now doing.

What's interesting with her heavy drag here is that just prior to landing that drag foot isn't heavy at all--it just scuffs along on the end of her big toe.

weird drag foot orientation

This is very similar to my DD's foot drag, it wasn't quite as pronounced as this pitcher. But it was hell on her ringers, digging a hole in that side of the shoe.
I can say we spent tons of time trying to fix and finally gave up.

I think the key is to focus on landing taller. Strengthening the torso would go a long way in this regard. She's working on that.

Yeah, I wouldn't do what I did and try to just fix "the drag". That was just wasted time.
