Last night I had just got off the phone with one of my high school pitchers (Sophomore) who had just committed to an out of state D1 school. (full ride, minus out of state fees) She was so happy and thanked me for all I had done for her in helping her see her dream to pitch D1.

As soon as I got off the phone I checked my e-mails and had received one from a parent telling me my services would no longer be needed, they would be trying a new instructor.

It's like your company supervisor calling you into the office and telling you your doing a great job, then on the way back to your cubicle your immediate boss calls you over and say's, "You're fired!".

It made me laugh. Gotta be happy for them though:)

This is exactly why you should never take credit for the students accomplishments........

If you do........One minute YOU'RE AWESOME.......The next minute YOU SUCK!

Better to NEVER be AWESOME, then EVER to SUCK.......

Oh believe me, most of our conversation was over how awesome SHE was, she's the one that put in all the hard work. She got plenty of kudo's from me.

I had the same type of day. I had a 7yo, a 9yo, 2 high school freshmen and I breezed into my last lesson. She is a freshman that is taking catching lessons. I had emptied out my own big bag on the grass and was giving it to the girl, so she could fit catching equipment in. (Mine, too.) The mom starts in that she can't carry that big of bag to school. ?? She's a catcher.

So, then the mom goes off on how terrible the girl's grades are and it went south from there.

And, it was my birthday.

Jojo I feel your pain. At least the one family said they were leaving. Most of the time they just disappear faster than Russian dissidents. Kudos on the other girl though.

I know, I always thank them for letting me know. The ones that just stop showing are frustrating, because I always think the worse, like they've been in an accident or death in the family, and I'll email them and they won't answer, and then I worry about giving away their spot because what if something did happen!? I'm such a worrier!

JoJo.
Congrats to your D1 committed kid. Although it's her hard work coming to fruition, know that it's your guidance that steered her hard work in the right direction. Kids come and go everyday, don't loose sleep over it. Once the word gets out that you have D1 committed students, you'll be turning some away due to not enough hours in the day!
Good luck, James
