PC- A dropball really should not be a pitch that girls get under. At it's best it will cause a girl to swing over it, and it is designed more to induce weakly hit ground balls. It should start off as a pitch that looks like a thigh high pitch and then drop to below the knees at least. (excuse the large picture canvas...my photo editing skills are not nearly as good as PCs

Oh yea JJ... forgot to tell you ... you got the tape on the ball wrong... JMHO

PC - on your DDs pitches, she doesn't get any brush interference. This one fix alone would add much to her pitching mechanics IMO.

Rocketech... I know your right !!! But I'm going to have to get on that after MS. I got her throwin 50+ ( guessin...was supposed to radar her today...not) She can heat up all those sunanigains she knows... To close to tryouts. Think I'll have her play rec. then ... We'll get it done in May.

I certainly am not a technical expert by any means. When my DD was growing, the drop was her best pitch. She would hit a growth spurt and suddenly throw a little harder. When that would happen, her drop would "flatten" out. We would focus for a couple weeks on adding additional spin. Magically the ball would start dropping again. As the speed increases, the spin should get faster to get the same result. JMHO

It's not the shins that I'd be sweating... ;)

I dunno..... I've got a spot on my left shin (I'm right-handed--left gloved) where I've been hit, I'm sure, more than 30 times. Now it only takes a tap on that spot (or those spots) to generate pain. I now wear shin guards. NOW, I need a face mask. Regarding the other area....... LOL.

For what it's worth... a great member on here... with an incredible DD, made brush and some general I/R enhancers (namely pronation) a major focus after getting together 2 months ago. They made the trek this last weekend... and her speed went from averaging in the 52 range... to a top speed of 62. She's 14.

You can wait, but there will always be an obstacle... might consider doing this sooner than later.

Best, JS

Java I know your right I know You can do it too !!! I have tried to hook up w/ 2 headed that way.... I live the wrong way. I'm thinking about flying her up, have her stay w/ you a weekend even miss a day of school... thats the only way it could work. GM's trying to tell me nicley that I'm in the way... :(

Hate to tell you PC, but IMO/IME, if we're lucky, and its a good day, and we have really exceptional teenagers, our children's internal parent frequency cancelling devices enable them to only hear 50% of what we, their parents, tell them. That's why its good to make them someone else's coaching responsibility - the trick is finding someone who won't screw it up!

A pitcher is two pitches that look similar to a batter, but behave differently. So, if a kid throws a fastball with 10RPS top spin, and her drop has 20RPS spin, then the two pitches behave differently.

When people say, "It flattens out", usually the RPS of the kid's fastball and the dropball are about equal. (Assuming that the spin on both is true 12-6 spin.)

Right...my only quibble is that it isn't magic.
