I once made the mistake of letting my DD warm up with a white softball in fluorescent lighting, NEVER did it again :(

Stop by the local farm, or a decent hardware store, and ask for some 3/8 inch stall/shop mat. Some stores sell it in 4 foot rolls and you should be able to buy any length in a 6 inch increment. Use a utility knife to cut it in half or into 6x24 inch sections. Buy a roll of gaffers tape (no-residue duct tape) and you can get 2-3 uses out of a 6 inch strip. A firm/tight knap, piece of carpet will work just as well.

Thx... Will Do !!!

BTW--love the fuzz effect in the video. I'll wait to comment on her mechanics until she has something to push from (or eliminates the gym-step) and isn't trying to compensate for the slide at plant. If I had to guess, I'd say she's doing pretty well...

Ken,

Do you typically see a speed difference throwing from a pitchers plate/mat as opposed to just off the gym floor?

I'm getting an umps mask...finally that time.

I end up umping quite a bit and went ahead an bought a hockey-style mask that I take everywhere--just in case. I wear the thing (and shin guards) when working on uneven surfaces and for 12U+ kids working on drop balls. I have a bad habit of turning my head so the full-head protection is worth it to me. Comp, MTR and BretMan would prolly laugh at my poor umping skilz, but I'm OK with that...

The fuzz... Its me setting my camera on TV @ 1/2000 60fps (Via Java) It is awesome out side, but inside I could bearly see it. Like he said...I had to turn it to a B&W. There is very little blur in the circle, but I think we are going to run outside in the cold for one shot.

I was suprised that I got any comments... I'm workin on getting better video....Guess I'll have to look into a couple cameras he recommends, if I want to do this inside... I'll get one of her, with the beautiful HD & color, even with some bluring....Tomorrow

Don't ever let your pitcher wear a fluorescent yellow shirt either! Boy that was a long/scary hour...

Thx Guys for the heads up !!! I will watch out for that. It's my glasses...I need bye-focals, and I'm getting a mask to break them in, when I get them.... & before I get them ASAP

If you ever get the chance to use a gun, try shooting the speeds of walk-throughs vs regular motion. In some cases/kids, the difference is remarkable, in others, it's just a couple mph. The trick is finding out why she is more relaxed during walk-throughs (if she's faster) then finding a cue to help her feel the same during regular motion. The cost of coming up with a taped-down plate to work with is worth it. I haven't messed with portable pitching mats and in my estimation, the hassle/cost isn't worth it.

Maybe grippier shoes or a mop for the floor? Hate to see her get injured because her front foot slipped out from under her. The pitching part looks good.

Would be nice to get more engagement from the ball of the foot on the drive and not so much heel to toe rocking motion.

I trying to come up w/ something for her to push off of.... I better at least get a 2"x 6"x 24" and ducktape it.. Thx

She stopped me from wrappin up to throw this pitch @ ME. (it was a heater !!!) She is noticing I'm getting alittle flinchy behind the plate. Its my eyes, and the lighting in there kinda plays tricks on me. I'm getting an umps mask...finally that time.
For home use in a basement or garage. A 1x6 tapconed to the floor works great. I'm afraid a 2x6 would be too big
