After years of baseball/softball experience I have synthesized (OK, stumbled into would be more like it) the following philosophical conclusions regarding pitching:
Throw for show, pitch for dough
and (not quite as pithy, but probably more accurate),
Speed kills, but placement and spin get outs (particularly if you have speed).
IMO, perfect for a softball re-make of Bull Durham.
