So we are 3 lessons into the HE to I/R switch and it seems like we've had a breakthrough and things are starting to click. She has been pitching since April of this year and just started the transition to I/R last month. Next area of focus is her "staying tall" and not sitting into the pitch. Notice her PC has her doing drills on her tip toes to help prohibit the front leg from collapsing with the stride.

Thoughts?

Wow, what a difference. My daughter is transitioning to IR as well and is making good progress. She also has problems collapsing her front side on her stride and problems staying tall. I'm interested in the drills from the tip toes, is this done with the 3/4 drill only or is there a variation that can be done with the full wind up? Anyone have any further suggestions on helping our DD's avoid collapsing the front side on the stride?

What am I missing? Who is coaching this kid? She exposes everything I've written about on here. Including a 3/4 arm circle drill staying outside the shoulder line.

I came in at the end of her lesson with my DD and one of my other pitchers...

BM...are you being facetious as to who the PC is? Think coffee...

What a nice young lady! Kim - it was great meeting you today! I thought it was funny when she talked about how she used to pitch...she remarkable! What a great personality! Great athleticism! Can't wait to see video come springtime...CP

WM and BM - I am fortunate enough to live within driving distance of Javasource who is Sophia's PC. And while he is kind enough to imply that it is the work we do at home that is making the difference, in reality it is his amazing ability to translate the fine points of a drill to a kid with a "deer in the headlights" look until he finds the right cue that makes sense to her. I just remind her to "lead with the pinky", for example, during our practices.

Chris - it was great meeting you as well! Funny, on the long ride home (5 hrs!) and with a sleeping kid in the car I found myself thinking on several occasions "Man, does that Chris guy LOVE the game of softball!". Wrt your DD, wow- what a powerhouse. Lots of good stuff going on from what I see. Hope to see you again soon.
