I am very horrible with the spins on the ball so I do not see it very well even with the painted laces.

But since we started working specifically on the whip she throws this pitch to me almost always.

can someone tell me if she is releasing wrong and what spin she is putting on the ball.

and I do not know enough about the release to be able to fix it to be correct if it is wrong

they are right over the center of the plate so I am not sure that she is just releasing late ??

what I mean is she letting go late, doing something wrong with her fingers ???

when I frame by frame it the ball is out of her hand almost directly under the belly button. I do not ever see her hand get behind the ball in the frame by frames and with her not completely strong front side you think the ball would be going down. has anyone seen this before ?? and can offer some advice to the cause

I can't see the spin, but I do see she needs to pull the ball/lower arm down into whip. The arm is pretty straight from 9-6. When she nails the whip, the spin will often be turned down and and to the right. BoardMember has a great gif showing this. I'll see if I can track it down.

The tape on the ball needs to be turned so that with a fastball-drop the ball rotates as shown in Ken's link. The following would be tilted a little

I don't think the tape on her ball is oriented correctly. You can see this when her arm is at 9:00 going into release

Looks like she's close to 1-7, 7-1... whatever you want to call it.

Looks a little wobbly, though. Can you show what her grip looks like? I would suspect that the wobble in her spin is a result of her thumb NOT being on the black line. The more you can move that thumb to the black line, the 'tighter' the spin. IOW, the middle finger AND the thumb should occupy the stripe. When she gets that down, you'll see a very consistent 'stripe' coming at you, angled in a 1-7 or 7-1 axis.

I think ken you nailed it. I think and I could be wrong but I think she is not pulling quite far enough down. her hand at release never gets behind the ball when I stop the frame right at 6:00 her hand is still on the inside of the ball there is no way that can happen if the ball is lagging the elbow correctly and it appears that she is taking the entire release to the inside of the ball " I mean she never gets her hand behind the ball" this vid is recorded at 300 fps on the original so it is easy to see that on frame by frame

and java

she uses a 3 finger 4 seam grip and her thumb is slightly off center from her middle finger due to hand size

and doug it is not tape the seams are just darkened

I used to be able to see the rotation better that way but lately my eyesight is dropping off the chart
