What we decided that she still practices with as much intensity with her pitching/hitting as if she will play in college then she can decide when she's a junior or senior if is a go or no go or if the opportunity will even be available.

I assume you're a dad...so, your DD is more mature at that age than you were. She may have already realized that she isn't going to be the starting SS for the New York Yankees, and therefore wants to pursue softball as "fun".

She might be telling you, "I like softball. But, I'm not going to dedicate the next 8 years of my life to playing it."--which is OK. All athletes quit at some point. The only question is when. She might be telling you, "I'm done after my senior year of HS."

Enjoy the moment and enjoy her being a goofy teenager. It will not last.

2019's? i thought colleges couldn't talk to kids until they're in junior or senior year.

These are the ones that have verbally committed.

GoldFastpitch is the website that displays verbal commits. Click here to browse the list by school.

Why is this under "softball pitching" ?

I would love to see a new section "College Softball Recruiting "

I know we have "Playing College Softball" - seems like there should be two sections

"Playing College Softball" - for those who have kids and can share past & current experiences

"Recruiting Information " - place for Q & A, let newbies get advice & information

Actually, "Playing College Softball" is a place to get recruiting advice and information. That's what it's designed for.

The "College Softball News" is for discussing things happening in college softball now - games, rankings, that sort of thing.

All HS players have a perception of what it will be like to play college ball. Unfortunately that perception is often steeped in fantasy and based on watching the WCWS on ESPN. All players talk the talk of playing college ball but at some point they will need to walk the walk. Each college program is unique and finding the right fit for the individual is critical. Once they actually experience college ball reality will quickly set in. At that point some continue and others do not. Regardless of what they think they know they better have a plan B to get an education that does not include softball.
