The time might have come for a technical pitching forum to separate simple advice to get a pitcher going or tweaked, and the full pitching progression/philosophy. I wish I could get my PC to post the alternate views that are out there, but she won't, being under the age of 30 and still a DD to the age of posters here. However, the way it is now, a player/parent just looking for a tweak, gets the encyclopedia no matter what. Perhaps this could motivate the younger players/coaches to come on without getting bashed for the Hanson principle, etc.

IMO, a player or parent looking for a small "tweak" and posting on this awesome forum receives multiple suggestions on a particular "tweak" from MANY MANY really qualified pitching coaches........Which YOU ARE NOT.........

They also receive many many suggestions from parents/pitchers who've either been down the road that relates to posters questions, or are CURRENTLY going down the road being discussed, and want to share their experiences on the topic..........

The more they ask.........The more information from any/all of the above they receive...........

There are these things called "threads" that have "thread titles" that separate the posters questions into categories.....

No need to split this place apart IMO............

awesome forum

This truly is an awesome forum. The amount knowledge that is so generously shared on this forum by some of the best pitching coaches in the game (Boardmember, Pauly, and Javasource to name a few) is mind blowing. These guys aren't here for the money. They don't get paid to educate us on this forum. They do it for the love of the game. Not only have they been able to help all of us bucket dads (and moms) that frequent this forum, they are able to help each other too.

Example - My DD and I had the pleasure of going to see Javasource yesterday. (300 miles each way...well worth the trip) I'm sure most of you have noticed that JS is on top of his game. The guy is in absolute BEAST MODE when it comes to pitching mechanics. One of the reasons why he is on top of his game is because he remains a "student of the game". He spent 3 hours working with my daughter and a large portion of that time was spent on the IR drills that BM generously shared with the softball community/DFP forum. Part of the homework that he gave my DD was to read up and perfect the drills in the IR thread.

Coaches helping players and parents. Coaches learning from each other. Parents sharing their experiences with each other. Were all on this journey together. Good stuff...all because of this awesome forum!

You mean, based on how well that has worked in the Practical Hitting forum, by keeping threads focused on pragmatic tactics and drills rather than spiraling into theological p1ssing contests? ;-)

I don't see a need for two separate forums.

A person can always post a thread like "Riseball 101" and have a good discussion about the pitch. If a thread that has detoured from "helping a kid" to "pitching mechanics in detail", I try to split the "pitching mechanics in detail" stuff into its own thread.

(And, as I've said before, I am grateful to the pros like JS, BM, Bill and Rick for posting. Is it possible for BM to fix his "." key? It seems to stick all the time.)

Any time a thread contains a substantial amount of good technical information it becomes a sticky. To me, those are the technical portion of the pitching forum. The threads not related to "OMG, help us!" Are mostly technical refresher courses that I really love reading. And the "OMG help us" threads are great too.

What is your issue with the Hanson Principle?

Do you have an issue with people applying a basic filter to information? If so, why?

This is by far the best place to get any type of pitching information. Sometimes I'm afraid to tell people about my little gold mine of pitching information. This place has made me a better pitching coach and I can't thank the people on this forum enough. I won't even bother looking any place else.
