Gotta disagree some on this. A brush is a brush and with nylon sweats,you can hear AND feel brush. A bump is not good. OILF can attest to this (and for unknown reasons confuses bump with brush...)

Well, I guess a pitcher could be wearing certain type pants or shorts such that the brush could be heard, but the person trying to hear it would have to be in a position to hear it. Heck, there's generally plenty of other noise around for me to hear it. I guess I've not tried to hear it.
One of my favorite SB noises is hearing a pitched ball whiz in a quiet gym... Can't get much better than that!
I still can't find the thread I was looking for... I'd posted a pic of how I like to stripe balls and I think the thread might have been applicable?
